KENOSHA, Wis. -Â The Elmhurst University men's basketball team fell, 72-81, on the road to Carthage College Saturday evening in Tarble Arena.
Elmhurst (16-4, 8-3 CCIW) kept it close late in the game, with one point separating the two teams with less than four to go. However, strong defense and shot-making from the Firebirds (14-5, 8-2 CCIW) allowed the hosts to protect their home court.
The Jays were led by a pair of 20-point performances from
Ocean Johnson (25 points) and
Tagen Pearson (21 points, five threes), while
Jonathan Zapinski pulled in 11 rebounds and
Quinn Pemberton dished out three assists.
Carthage put forward an even scoring offense, with four Firebirds hitting double-digit points led by Ryan Johnson's 22 points.
The Firebirds particularly capitalized on the Bluejays' turnovers, scoring 30 points off of 15 turnovers from Elmhurst.
