NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's volleyball team continued to impress Friday evening, downing Greenville University 3-0 to open the North Central Invitational.
Elmhurst (5-0) used strong performances from
Lucy Anderson (12 kills, four service aces),
Kali Phillips (seven kills), and
Keely Larson (seven kills, five blocks) to sweep away Greenville (2-4).
Elmhurst limited the Panthers to a .069 hitting percentage on the evening, allowing the visitors just 22 kills on the match.
The Bluejays spent most of the first set trailing, with Greenville leading 14-8 at the halfway point in the opening set. A 6-0 run from Elmhurst allowed the Bluejays to knot the set at 18, and closed out on a 7-4 run to win the opening set by a score of 25-22.
Elmhurst again went down early in the second before another seven-point burst opened the score to 13-7 early. The Bluejays continued to dominate in the second, outscoring the Panthers 12-6 the rest of the way to take the second set, 25-13.
After trading points to begin the third set, another nine-point burst opened the score to 12-3, and the Bluejays never looked back from there, taking the third set 25-20 and securing their fourth-straight sweep.

The Bluejays will wrap up competition at the North Central Invitational tomorrow, Sept. 10, battling Nebraska Wesleyan in Naperville, Ill. at 10:00 a.m.
