Elmhurst Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team dominated the pitch at Langhorst Field, downing Knox College by a score of 4-0 Friday evening.
The Bluejays (3-1) wiere led by
Camila Rubio, who scored her first hat trick with goal's in the 16th, 49th, and a penalty goal in the 54th minute.
Kelli Coughlin also got in on the action with a goal in the 69th minute after adding an assist earlier in the match. The Bluejays totaled 33 shots, with Coughlin contributing nine, followed by Rubio with five and
Ellie Muscarello and
Michelle Cuervo contributing four.
Megan Kleve also added another clean sheet to her resume. The Bluejays also garnered 16 corner kicks on the night.
Knox (0-4) recieved 13 saves from goalkeeper Sara Mirani to lead the team.
In the first half, the Bluejays came out fast, putting pressure on the Prairie Fire with multiple shot attempts before finally finding the back of the net from Rubio's first goal on the evening.
In the second half, the Bluejays never looked back with a quick goal by Rubio in the 49th minute then a penalty kick goal in the 54th minute to extend the lead to 3-0. Coughlin got in on the scoring in the 69th minute, extending the lead to 4-0, with the Bluejay defense preventing Knox from gaining any momentum and preserving the shutout victory.

The Bluejays will be back in action at Langhorst Field on Sunday, Sep. 10 against Ripon College at 12:00 pm.
