NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Graduate student linebacker Bryce Gable of Elmhurst football was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Gable led the Bluejays in a strong defensive outing for the team, limiting Adrian to just three points in the season-opening victory. The Grandville, Mich. native totaled nine tackles (five solo, four assisted) while adding a forced fumble, fumble recovery, and a 54-yard interception returned for a touchdown. Gable also recorded two tackles-for-loss in the game against the Bulldogs.

He earns his second-career student-athlete of the week honor after being named the conference's defensive player of the week on October 11, 2021.

Gable and the Bluejays are back in action next Saturday, Sep. 16, with a conference-opening matchup against Augustana College (IL) at 6:00 p.m. CT.
