ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University softball team dropped a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin doubleheader to Carthage College Tuesday evening at Salt Creek Park.
Elmhurst (10-15, 3-5 CCIW) struggled in the field in game one, committing four errors and falling 7-3 in the contest.
Chiara O'Leary started for the Bluejays, giving up four runs (two earned) across 1.2 innings of work, while
Jackie Orel, O'Leary, and
Madigan Doss provided RBI's for the offense.
In game two, the Bluejays bounced back with offense, scoring two runs in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead into the final half inning. However, Carthage responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off the Bluejays and sweep the doubleheader by a score of 5-4.
Reese Coon walked three times to help maintain the Elmhurst offense, while Orel tallied a pair of RBI with
Brenna Morley and
Leah Falk providing the other runs for the Bluejay offense.
Brianna Pisauro pitched all 6.1 innings for Elmhurst, cruising through the first six innings before allowing the three runs to score for the Firebirds, taking the loss to drop to 5-6 on the season.

Elmhurst will head to Beloit, Wis. on Thursday, April 20 for a doubleheader against Beloit College beginning at 3:00 p.m. CT.
