ORLANDO, Fla. -Â On the final day of the team's Florida spring break trip, the Elmhurst University softball team split a doubleheader, falling to Tufts University and defeating Westminster College (Mo.) in run-rule fashion.
Elmhurst (7-6, 0-0 CCIW) began the day with a run-rule loss to Tufts University, 0-10 in five innings. The Bluejays garnered just one hit in the contest, a
Chiara O'Leary single in the first inning.
Ali Mockenhaupt took the loss in the circle for the Bluejays to drop to 1-1, while freshman
Megan Wilson again had a standout performance in the circle in relief, tossing the final 1.2 innings of the game and giving up just two hits and one run.
In game two, the Bluejays were able to flip the script at the plate, dominating Westminster College in a 11-3, six-inning victory for the Bluejays. At the plate, three different Bluejays (
Kate Sommer,
Maddie Trost, Alex Kiriakopolous) tallied multi-hit and multi-RBI performances in the game with eight total Bluejays getting in with an RBI.Â
Brianna Pisauro again shined in the circle for the Bluejays in game two, tossing all six innings and giving up six hits and three runs, while striking out five batters to improve to 3-2 on the season.Â
The Bluejays wrap up their Florida trip with a 3-6 record, heading into the final stretch of non-conference play with a 7-6 overall record.Â
