AUBURNDALE, Fla. -Â The Elmhurst University baseball team dismantled SUNY Old Westbury by a score of 14-2 Tuesday morning in Florida.
Elmhurst (7-7, 0-0 CCIW) scored 11 runs across the first three innings of play, amassing ten hits and seven walks, striking out just twice in the contest.
The Bluejays found scoring production from eight different players in the contest, with
Trey Romay leading Elmhurst with three RBI.
Troy Taller,
Drew Raspolich, and
Erik Malott each tallied two RBI in the game, while
Zach Kolb,
Freddie March,
Javier Cervantes, and
Brett Bishop also contributed to the scoring for Elmhurst.
On the mound,
J.D. Knight started the game and pitched 2.1 innings, giving up a pair of runs on three hits while striking out seven batters. Sophomore
Charlie Smith earned the win in relief for the Bluejays, pitching the final 4.2 innings and giving up no runs on three hits, two walks, and seven strikeouts.
Cervantes was a bright spot for the Bluejays in the game, as the Freshman pinch-hit in the seventh inning and knocked a solo home run, the first hit, home run, RBI, and run scored of his collegiate career.
