WAUKESHA, Wis. -Â The Elmhurst University men's basketball team had their four-game winning streak snapped, falling to Carroll University 64-65 on the road.
Elmhurst (15-7, 7-6 CCIW) erased a three-point half time deficit and led by as much as seven, but a 15-7 closing run from the home team and late fouls from the Bluejays allowed Carroll (5-17, 2-11 CCIW) to pull out their second conference victory of the season.
Wesley Hooker led the Bluejays with a near double-double of 15 points and nine rebounds, while
Ocean Johnson was the only other Bluejay to hit double-digits in points, scoring 12. Leading scorer
John Ittounas had a quiet night on offense, scoring just six points, but led the Bluejays on the boards with ten rebounds on the evening.Â
Carroll was led by Aaron Wafford's game-high 20 points, while Kobe Simpson tallied 14 points for the Pioneers.Â
The Bluejays held an advantage in the paint, scoring 30 compared to Carroll's 22, and capitalized on offensive rebounds scoring 20 second-chance points, but a slow second half saw Elmhurst shoot just 32 percent from the field. Elmhurst also struggled from the free-throw line, going just 9-for-17 on the evening compared to Carroll's 12-for-14 effort.Â
