Women's Basketball Downed by Augustana

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's basketball team fell to Augustana College, 91-40, at R.A. Faganel Hall.

The Bluejays (2-11/0-5 CCIW) posted back-to-back single point quarters, while the Vikings scored at least 20 points in each quarter to win and improve to 3-2 in conference play.

Augustana (9-5/3-2 CCIW) boasted four players in double-figures. Leading the way was Emma Berg with 15 points and five rebounds, while Macy Beinborn added in 13 points and four boards. Following closely behind was Gabriela Loiz and Corey Whitlock who chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively.

Elmhurst was led by Taylor Harazin and Anna Kleszynski with eight points apiece. Harazin pulled down six rebounds, while Kleszynski finished with a game-high nine boards. MC Brown contributed seven points for the Bluejays in the loss.

Augustana took advantage of Elmhurst's 31 turnovers to score 39 of its 91 points.

The Vikings shot 54.4 percent (37-of-68) from the field, while the Bluejays shot 24.4 percent (11-of-45). Augustana fared better from behind the arc as well shooting 44.0 percent (11-of-25) compared to Elmhurst's 11.1 percent (1-of-9).

The Bluejays travel to North Park for another CCIW matchup against the Vikings on Saturday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m.
