Bluejays Stumble at North Park


CHICAGO, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's basketball team fell, 53-41, in a CCIW matchup against North Park University.

The Bluejays (2-12/0-6 CCIW) held a six-point advantage over the Vikings at the half and even extended their lead to 11 with 4:43 left to play in the third quarter. North Park outscored Elmhurst 28-5 in the final 14:43 minutes of the contest to improve to a 3-2 mark in the CCIW.

Taylor Harazin led the way for the Bluejays with a double-double featuring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Anna Kleszynski followed closely behind with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Kendall Schieppe and Lindsay Novak chipped in six points apiece in the loss.

North Park (7-7/3-2 CCIW) was led by Victoria Perry who finished with 22 points. Esther Miller added in 12 points and pulled down four rebounds, while Chantel Hairston contributed a double-double including 10 points and 11 boards.

The Bluejays shot 23.4 percent (11-of-47) from the field compared to the Vikings 25.4 percent (16-of-63). Elmhurst fared better from behind the arc shooting 23.5 percent (4-of-17), while North Park shot 21.1 percent (4-of-19) from downtown.

UP NEXT

The Bluejays head north to Waukesha to take on the Carroll University Pioneers for their next contest on Wednesday, January 11 at 7:00 p.m.
