ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team scored first, but couldn't hold off North Central College, falling 6-1 to the Cardinals at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst (0-7/0-1 CCIW) struck first, scoring just 15 minutes into the contest on an
Olivia Trivedi blast.
The Bluejays could not hold the lead as North Central scored twice in the next seven minutes to move in front 2-1. Elle Sutter and Morgan Verbeten gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead at the half.
North Central (8-1-1/1-0 CCIW) added four more goals in the second half, including two more by Sutter, to pull away for the 6-1 win.
North Central outshot the Bluejays 41-3. Jordan Boyd earned the win in goal for the Cardinals while recording a pair of saves.
MaKenzee Velchek recorded 12 saves in nearly 62 minutes of action for Elmhurst.
Aleksia Vranjes stopped five shots in the final 28 minutes for Elmhurst.
Elmhurst hosts the University of Chicago on Teusday, September 27.
