NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst University football team dropped its first road game of the season, falling 76-6 to second-ranked North Central College.
North Central (3-0/2-0 CCIW) scored on its first possession and never looked back, leading 55-0 at the half and scoring the game's first 76 points before Elmhurst (0-3/0-2 CCIW) got on the scoreboard.
The Bluejays capped an eight-play, 75 yard scoring drive with 58 seconds left to play on a 25-yard touchdown pass from
Noah Henkel to
Max McCarville.
North Central totaled 666 yards of offense while rushing for 482 on the ground. The Bluejays finished with 81 yards of offense and six turnovers.
Aidan Pollock rushed for 17 yards to lead Elmhurst on the ground.
Gabe Holtke caught four passes for 14 yards.
Ethan Greenfield led North Central on the ground, carrying 11 times for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Luke Henen completed 16-of-20 passes for three touchdowns for the Cardinals.
Colton Kraus led the Bluejays' defense with nine tackles (seven solo) and a forced fumble.
Bryce Gable added nine tackles, including a tackle for loss.
Antonio Carillo finished with seven stops while
Eric Thames and
Talyn West each finished with an interception.
