ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback to Kalamazoo College at Langhorst Field.
The Hornets (3-2-2) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Bluejays with a goal by Destiny Garcia in the first 20 seconds of the contest.
The Elmhurst (0-5-0) defense held Kalamazoo scoreless for the remainder of the first half.
In the 57
th minute of play, the Hornets extended their lead to 2-0 when Garcia connected with teammate Holly Bowling who placed the ball in the top right corner of the net just out of
MaKenzee Velchek's reach.
Velchek tallied 12 saves and Aleksia Vranges chipped in one save for the Bluejays, while Lexi Nesbitt earned the shutout in goal for Kalamazoo.
Elmhurst hosts Lake Forest College for its next contest on Monday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Langhorst Field.
