CAROL STREAM, Ill. - The Elmhurst University baseball team closed out the 2022 season with a 13-5 loss to Carroll University at Lee Pfund Stadium. 

Carroll (18-21/9-9 CCIW) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second on a Mason Hege two-run homer. Elmhurst answered back in the bottom of the second, tying the game on a Drew Raspolich two-run blast. The Bluejays moved in front 3-2 later in the inning when Jesse James scored on a wild pitch. 

Carroll scored a run in the third to pull even at 3-3. The Pioneers broke things open in the fourth with a four-run outburst keyed by a two-run homer from Benton Holly. Caroll added a run in the fifth and five runs in the seventh to open up a 13-3 lead. 

The Bluejays scored a pair of runs on wild pitches in the bottom of the seventh to make the final score 13-5. 

Troy Taller, Paul Fomby and Jesse James recorded two hits apiece to pace the Bluejays at the plate. 

J.D. Knight made the start and took the loss for Elmhurst, working 3.2 innings and allowing six hits and seven runs. He walked four and struck out four..
