ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University softball team celebrated Senior Day at Salt Creek Park by scoring a 6-1 win over Mount Mary University.
Elmhurst grabbed a 1-0 in the first inning as 
Alana Batista delivered a two-out, RBI single to right to put the Bluejays in front. The Bluejays made it 2-0 in the third on a delayed double steal attempt. 
Alana Batista deliberately got herself in a rundown between first and second, allowing 
Jamie Haas to score from third before getting tagged out.
 
Mount Mary (13-17) scored a run in the fourth to make the score 2-1, but Elmhurst answered back with a three-run outburst in the fifth. Batista knocked in a run on a fielder's choice and 
Amaya Chavez delivered a two-run triple to make the score 5-1. Elmhurst tacked on an insurance run in the sixth on 
Jamie Haas' RBI double.
 
Haas finished 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and a RBI. Chavez added two hits and drove in two.
 
Sydni Gizynski picked up her sixth victory of the season from the circle, tossing a complete game and limiting Mount Mary to just four hits and one unearned run. She walked five and struck out five.

Elmhurst (10-20) hosts Illinois Wesleyan University tomorrow (May 2) at 3:00 p.m.
