Justin Penados and
Ben Cavka both picked up singles victories for the Elmhurst University men's tennis team in a 7-2 road loss at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Elmhurst (6-8/1-5 CCIW) dropped all three doubles matches to start the day. Penados and
Brandon Fulmer fell to Demetrious Triantafel and Carter Burk 8-4 at No. 1. The Titan's duo of Ryan McCoy and Shanku Nair edged Elmhurst's
Tomas Bella and Cavka 8-6 at No. 2. Elmhurst's
Russell Reyes and
Yannis Varsamis fell 8-0 to Justin Piotrowski and Zeke Cross at No. 3.
In singles play, Bella fell 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 to Triantafel at No. 1. Pendaos scored a 6-3, 6-0 win over Burk at No. 2 while Cavka followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over McCoy at No. 3.
Nair stopped Fulmer 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 while Piotrowski defeated Reyes 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5. Varsamis fell 6-0, 6-0 at Cross at No. 6 singles.
