ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team kicked off the spring portion of its schedule by dropping a tightly-contested contest 5-4 to the College of Lake County.
The two teams split the six singles matches but College of Lake County took two of the three doubles matches to take the contest.
In doubles play, Elmhurst's
Julia Kostadinova and
Isabella Rahman defeated Nicole Miclat and Anjelica Rodriguez 8-2. Lake County's No. 2 duo of Adele Hutton and Kate Jackson stopped
June Bering and
Brynn Rubacky 8-7. Elmhurst's No. 3 duo of
Alitza Munoz and
Megan Engstrom fell 8-7 to Alison Greissinger and Haley Quick.
In singles play, Kostadinova defeated Quick 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles Rahman followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Miclat at No. 2. Hutton defeated Bering 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 while Jackson stopped Engstron 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4. Rodriguez toppled Rubacky 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 while Munoz downed Greissinger 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
