Men's Lacrosse Wins Third Straight

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-11 victory over Aurora University at Langhorst Field.

The Bluejays opened up the first quarter with a 10-1 lead over the Spartans with Ben Luke leading the charge with four goals.

Elmhurst (3-2) extended its lead to 13 to head into the locker room with a comfortable 16-3 advantage.

Aurora (1-2) started the third quarter with five unanswered goals to cut the deficit to eight.

The Spartans outscored the Bluejays 8-4 in the second half, but were unable to overcome Elmhurst's dominant first half of scoring.

Luke finished with eight goals and one assist, while Marcus Yandall added in five assists and five goals for Elmhurst in the win. Parker O'Leary chipped in three goals and one assist. Nathan McGuire, Jake Grebe, Cullen Nordeman and Ryan Swank all added goals for the Bluejays. Braden King picked up a game-high 10 groundballs and won 13-of-18 faceoffs.

Aurora was led by Andy Trenary with one goal and three assists. Mikail Byun added in two goals and one assist, while Brody Macdonald finished with three goals in the loss. Kyle Bosshart grabbed a team-high six groundballs and Luke Hill won 9-of-18 faceoffs.

The Bluejays outshot the Spartans 52 to 33 and successfully cleared 23-of-25 attempts compared to Aurora's 18-of-23.

Aurora goalkeeper, Phillip Gianelle, collected 11 saves, while Elmhurst's Noah Mickelson earned the win with nine saves.

The Bluejays are back in action on Saturday, March 12 when they take on Albion College at Langhorst Field at 1:00 p.m.
