HANOVER PARK, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's tennis team improved to 2-2 on the season by shutting out the Milwaukee School of Engineering 9-0 at Centre Court.
Elmhurst swept the three doubles contests to start the day.
Tomas Bella and
Justin Penados defeated Alec Dam and Alex Nakasoto 8-0 at No. 1.
Ben Cavka and
Florin Stan followed with an 8-3 victory over Josh Fay and Benjamin Steves 8-3 at No. 2. Elmhurst's No. 3 duo of
Brandon Fulmer and
Russell Reyes toppled Ryan Emerich and Michael Emerich 8-6.
In singles play, Bella rallied from a set down to defeat Dam 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 at No. 1. Penados made quick work of Nakasoto 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 while Cavka defeated Joe Chong 6-3, 6-4 at No.3. Stan upended Ryan Emerich 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 while Fulmer defeated Fay 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5. Reyes scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over Nathan Chapman at No. 6 singles.Â
The Bluejays host the College of DuPage on March 14.
