BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's basketball team fell in its conference-opener, 100-58, to Illinois Wesleyan University in the Shirk Center.
The Titans held a dominant 27-14 lead after the opening quarter. Illinois Wesleyan added 25 points in the second quarter to head into the locker room up 52-26.
The Bluejays (1-5/0-1 CCIW) were outscored 48-32 in the second half, despite both squads putting up 18 points each in the final period.
Taylor Harazin led the way for Elmhurst finishing with 14 points and four rebounds, while
Marissa Mussatto and Madison Decman chipped in seven points apiece. Anna Sheedy ended with a team-high five rebounds to go along with her three points and three assists.
Illinois Wesleyan (6-2/1-0 CCIW) boasted four players in double-figures. Lauren Huber finished with a game-high 22 points, while Caite Knutson and Mallory Powers each added in 14 points apiece in the win. Rounding out the double-digit scorers was Kate Palmer who chipped in 11 points.
The Bluejays shot 39.2 percent (20-of-51) compared to the Titans 48.8 percent (39-80). IWU fared better from behind the arc as well shotting 41.4 percent (12-of-29), while Elmhurst shot 23.8 percent (5-of-21).
