WHEATON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's basketball team fell 78-55 to Hanover College in the final day of the Beth Baker Classic hosted by Wheaton College.
The Panthers held a two-point lead over the Bluejays at the end of the opening quarter and outscored Elmhurst (0-3) in the remaining three quarters to cruise to their second win of the weekend.
Payton Schmidt led the Bluejays on offense with 10 points, while
Ella Riley and Kendall Schieppe followed closely behind with eight points each.
Taylor Harazin added in six points and a team-high eight rebounds in the loss.
Hanover (2-0) finished with three players in double-figures. Maddi Sears scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down four rebounds, while Grace Bezold tallied the sole double-double of the contest with 14 points and 10 boards. Katherine Benter was the final Panther in double-figures chipping in 10 points and six rebounds in the win.
The Bluejays shot 46.7 percent (17-of-59) from the field and 26.7 percent from behind the arc, while the Panthers shot 40 percent (30-of-75) from the field and 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from downtown.
Elmhurst struggled to take care of the ball, giving up 18 points off of its 20 turnovers in the contest.
