ALMA, Mich.- The Elmhurst University men's basketbal team hit the road for the first time this season and handled the Alma College Scots 110-74 Saturday evening inside Art Smith Arena.
The Bluejays (2-0, 0-0 CCIW) displayed a balanced offensive attack with five different scorers hitting double digits in the game and never trailed in the matchup. Junior guard John Ittounas led the Bluejays in scoring with 18 points, while senior guard
Ocean Johnson recorded the first Bluejay double-double of the year tallying 15 points and ten rebounds. Senior
Wesley Hooker and sophomore
Matt Woloch each added 14 points in the game, while senior
Jonathan Zapinski added 13 points and three blocks. Alma (0-1, 0-0 MIAA) was led by Tyshaun Walker, who led all scorers with 20 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Elmhurst started the game on a 15-3 run fueled by a pair of treys from Ittounas. The Scots responded with a ten point burst to bring the score closer, but the Bluejays distanced themselves again, forcing multiple turnovers and getting to the basket to grow their lead to 16 just ten minutes into the game. Ittounas continued his powerful first-half with a pair of layups to increase the Bluejay lead, en route to 16 first-half points from the junior guard. Elmhurst finished the first period with an 18-4 run to move the score to 64-39 heading into the locker room. The Bluejays steadily increased their lead to begin the second period, as a 19-2 scoring run pushed the Bluejays' lead to 45 with ten minutes to go in the game. A thunderous Jaiden Malichi dunk allowed Elmhurst to pass the century mark in points, and Elmhurst cruised to a 36-point victory.

Elmhurst will continue their road trip next Wednesday, Nov. 16 as the Bluejays travel to Fond du Lac, Wis. to take on Marian University, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.
