Bluejays Split Pair at WLC to Close Out 2022 Season

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Elmhurst University volleyball team closed out its 2022 season by splitting a pair of matches in the second day of the Warrior Invitational at the Time of Grace Center. The Bluejays defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering, 3-0, before falling to #20 Coe College, 3-0, in the final match of the day.

Elmhurst 3, MSOE 0

The Bluejays (7-18/3-5 CCIW) soundly defeated the Raiders in set one by a score of 25-17, before finishing off a close set two and three with scores of 25-23 and 27-25.

MSOE hit .173 as a team, finishing with 31 kills and 13 errors in 104 attempts. Abby Balkema and Ana Knutson led the way for the Raiders with sevens kills each, while Joelle Harrington tallied 13 assists, two blocks and nine digs in the loss. Gillian McDaniel totaled a team-high three aces along with 16 assists.

Elmhurst hit .186 as a team, finishing with 44 kills and 22 errors in 118 attempts. Elise Rossing and Jada Wiley led the way on offense for the Bluejays both finishing with 11 kills. Hannah Horn tallied a match-high 22 assists and added in three assists and six digs in the win. Erin Murray chipped in 10 assists, while Payton Ceh totaled 16 digs and five assists.

Coe 3, Elmhurst 0

The Kohawks toppled the Bluejays in three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-13 and 25-19.

Elmhurst (7-19/3-5 CCIW) hit .102 as a team, finishing with 35 kills and 22 errors in 128 attempts. Elise Rossing and Lacey Kaiser led the offense with eight kills each. Hannah Horn dished out 16 assists and seven digs, while Kayla Daros recorded a match-high 16 digs. Payton Ceh followed closely behind with 15 digs and led Elmhurst with three aces.

Coe (24-5/8-0 ARC) hit .261 as a team, finishing with 38 kills and eight errors in 115 attempts. Rachael Kilpatrick totaled eight kills and four blocks, while Madi Parson and Kate Tidman each added in seven kills in the win. Parson also led the Kohawks with 15 digs, while Maddy Maahs posted a match-high 29 assists.

Elmhurst finishes the 2022 season with a 7-19 overall record and a 3-5 mark in the CCIW.
