RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Elmhurst University football team suffered a 45-7 setback in its season-opening contest at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Elmhurst (0-1) trailed by just 10 points (17-7) at halftime, but the Falcons outscored the Bluejays 28-0 in the second half to blow the game open.

Andy Groebner started the scoring for the Falcons with a 46-yard touchdown grab on the Falcons' opening possession of the game. The Falcons added a field goal and an interception return for a touchdown to open up a 17-0 lead.

Elmhurst scored its only points of the contest late in the first half.
Bryce Gable picked off a Kole Hinrichsen pass and returned it for a touchdown.

UW-River Falls controlled the second half, scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter and another touchdown early in the fourth to put the game out of reach and cruise to the victory.

Elmhurst struggled on offense, finishing with just 160 yards total in the contest. The Falcons put up 443 yards of offense against the Bluejays' defense.

Anthony Antrobus carried 13 times for 43 yards to lead the Bluejays' rushing attack.
Winston Brown hauled in five passes for 65 yards as the Bluejays' top receiver.

Gable led Elmhurst's defense with 14 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss.
Colton Krause added seven stops for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst has next weekend off before hosting Carthage College on Saturday, September 18 at Langhorst Field.
