BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's soccer team dropped its second conference matchup, falling 4-0 against Illinois Wesleyan at Neis Soccer Field.
The Titans took the lead in the 17
th minute of play when Rachel White served the ball to teammate Caelyn Steffens who tallied her fifth goal of the season.
At the 34
th minute mark, Illinois Wesleyan (3-5-1) extended its lead to 2-0 with a goal by Lauren Shanks off of an assist by Steffens.
Even with a 2-0 lead going into halftime, the Titans never took their foot off the gas offensively.
In the 67
th minute of play, Steffens added her second assist when she found teammate Maddy Koppe who scored her first career goal making the score 3-0 in favor of the Titans.
With just eight minutes left in the contest, Illinois Wesleyan's Heather Dietrich scored off of an assist by Angelina Kosmas to soundly defeat the Bluejays (2-5-0) 4-0.
Elmhurst goalkeeper,
MaKenzee Velchek, recorded 11 saves, while Illinois Wesleyan's Kayla Borg earned the shutout and win with four saves.
