WHEATON, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team dropped a 15-inning marathon contest at Wheaton College, falling by a final score of 3-2.
Elmhurst slipped to 16-18 overall and 11-15 in the CCIW with the loss. Wheaton improved to 12-22 overall and 8-22 in league play with the win.

Elmhurst jumped on the scoreboard first when
Freddie March cracked a solo homer to lead off the third inning. Wheaton pulled even in the seventh with a run to knot the score at 1-1.

The Bluejays recaptured the lead in the eighth inning when
Carter Truong doubled home
Trey Romay to give Elmhurst a 2-1 lead. A Ben Weaver RBI double in the bottom of the eighth tied the game for Wheaton at 2-2.

The game remained tied at 2-2 until the 15th inning. Wheaton put runners on the corners with one out. Weaver was intentionally walked to load the bases but Noah Ritchie delivered a sacrifice fly to drive in the winning run for the Thunder.

Carter Truong collected a par of hits for Elmhurst in the loss.

Joseph Kalish made the start for Elmhurst and settled for a no-decision. Kalish pitched six innings, allowing just one run and four hits. He walked one and fanned two.
J.D. Knight took the loss in relief despite pitching well. He allowed just two hits one and run in 5.2 innings of work. He walked two and struck out four.

Elmhurst hosts Wheaton in a doubleheader tomorrow (May 8) at Butterfield Park.
