ELMHURST, Ill. –
Paul Fomby homered twice and drove in five runs to help the Elmhurst University baseball team rally past Carroll University 14-11 in a slugfest.

Carroll jumped out in front with four runs in the top of the first inning. The four run-outburst was keyed by a two-run homer from Mitch Massino. Elmhurst answered back with four runs in the bottom of the frame to pull even at 4-4.
Trey Romay drove in the first run of the inning and Fomby followed with a three-run blast to bring the Bluejays even.

Carroll moved back in front with a five-run third inning to go up 9-4. Elmhurst took a run back in the bottom of the third on
Lorenzo Farino's RBI single to make the score 9-5. The Bluejays plated another run in the fourth on an RBI double from
Tyler Kledzik, cutting Carroll's lead down to three in the process.

Elmhurst broke through in the sixth, scoring five times to take an 11-9 lead.
Tyler Kledzik knocked in the first run and Romay followed with an RBI double. Fomby capped the scoring with a two-run homer to put the Bluejays in front for the first time.
Elmhurst's lead did not last as Brenton Holly smashed a two-run homer in the seventh to knot the score at 11-11. The Bluejays answered back immediately with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Carter Truong singled to put the Bluejays in front and Romay added a sacrifice fly to make the score 13-11.
Zachary Mietzner crushed a solo homer to left field in the eighth as an insurance run for the Bluejays.

Farino finished with three of Elmhurst's 14 hits on the day. Truong, Kledzik, Romay and Fomby all added two hits apiece. Fomby scored two runs and drove in five while Romay scored three times and drove in three. The Bluejays' top five hitters in the order combined to finish 11-for-21 with 11 RBIs.

Jay Palmer earned the win in relief for Elmhurst, working 0.2 innings and allowing three walks while striking out one.
Cole Bozzi notched his third save of the year after getting out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth and finishing off the ninth inning. Bozzi allowed just one hit in 1.2 innings of work while striking out three.
