ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Elmhurst University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Augustana College. The Bluejays fell 4-2 in game one and 9-6 in the nightcap.

AUGUSTANA 4, ELMHURST 2 (Game One) – Elmhurst's late-inning rally came up short in a 4-2 loss in game one against the Vikings.

The Vikings scored a sing run in the first, fourth and fifth innings to open up a 3-0 lead. Elmhurst (9-16/7-12 CCIW) rallied back in the in the sixth. With two on and one out,
Jenna Geraci singled home a run. Maria Emilani added an RBI single to bring the Bluejays to within a run with the tying run at third base. A pop up and a caught stealing ended the Bluejays' scoring threat.

Augustana (9-25/6-20) added an insurance run in the sixth and held off the Bluejays in the seventh to earn the game one victory.

Alyssa Filkowski and Geraci led Elmhurst's offense, finishing with two hits apiece in the loss.

Jena Hicks made the start and took the loss for Elmhurst, despite allowing only five hits and two runs over four innings. She walked one and struck out two.

AUGUSTANA 9, ELMHURST 6 (Game Two) – Elmhurst jumped out to an early lead, but the Vikings scored five runs in the fifth inning to rally past the Bluejays 9-6.

Augustana scored a run in the first, but the Bluejays answered back with four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Jamie Haas started the scoring with an RBI since. An RBI fielder's choice from Geraci gave the Bluejays a 2-1 lead. An Augustana error led to a pair of Elmhurst runs and gave the Bluejays a 4-1 cushion.

The Vikings cut the lead down to 4-2 with a run in the third, but the Bluejays answered back in the third when Filkowski homered to lead off the bottom of the inning.

Augustana pulled to within a run after totaling two runs in the fourth. The Vikings broke things open in the fifth, capitalizing on three Elmhurst errors to open up 9-5 lead. The Bluejays scored a run in the seventh on a
Mia Riese RBI double to make the final score 9-6.

Brianna Pisauro took the loss from the circle. She worked 4.2 innings and allowed nine hits and six earned runs. She struck out four while not issuing a walk.

Elmhurst plays at Millikin University tomorrow (May 1). Â
