WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's tennis team's season came to a close with a 6-0 loss to Wheaton College in the CCIW Tournament quarterfinals.
Wheaton (9-3) swept the three doubles matches to jump out in front. Abygale Ahn and Emme Lindquist combined to defeat
Julia Kostadinova and
Isabella Rahman 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Claire Dibble and Bethany Hoogerheide followed with an 8-1 victory over
Megan Engstrom and
June Bering at No. 2. Elmhurst's No. 3 pairing of
Morgan Bilancia and
Bailey Ekstrand battled in a tough match against Sarah Backer and Caroline Park before falling 8-7.
In singles play Park defeated Engstrom 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 while Ahn added a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bilanica at No. 2 singles. Dibble finished a 6-3, 6-2 win over Rahman at No. 3 singles at the same time as the No. 2 singles match was ending to make the final score 6-0. The remaining three singles matches were unfinished as Wheaton had secured the team win and advancement.
