ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Millikin University.
Elmhurst (1-5/1-3 CCW) scored a pair of wins in singles competition while Millikin (5-9/2-4 CCIW) swept the three doubles contests.
In doubles action, Millikin's Jacob Palley and Nick Laramee downed
Justin Penados and
Ben Cavka 8-4 at No. 1. Holden Owens and Clayton Maack followed with an 8-2 victory over the Bluejays' pairing of
Shawn Sabaricos and
Florin Stan. Cory Erickson and Justin Caldwell defeated
Tavious Imperial and Brandon Fullmer 8-6 at No. 3.
Palley scored a 6-3, 6-3 win over Penados at No. 1 singles while Maack toppled Sabaricos in three sets (6-1, 5-7, 7-2) at No. 2. Owens upended Stan 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3. Fulmer scored a point for the Bluejays at No. 4, rallying from a set down to defeat Laramee 6-7, 6-4, 10-3. Cavka added a 6-3, 6-4 win over Erickson at No. 5 to account for the Bluejays' second point. Caldwell topped Imperial 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
