NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team moved to 7-5 overall and 5-1 in the CCIW after splitting a doubleheader with North Central College. The Bluejays dropped the opener 8-3 but rebounded to take game two by a 3-1 final score.
 
NORTH CENTRAL 8, ELMHURST 3 (Game One) – Four Elmhurst errors did in the Bluejays as North Central scored eight unearned runs to score an 8-3 win in game one.
 
Elmhurst jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with three runs in the top of the second. Alana Batista double down to the right field line to drive in a run and put the Bluejays in front 1-0. Amaya Chavez with a sacrifice fly to make the score 2-0. Briana Pisauro capped the inning with an RBI single to give the Bluejays a three-run cushion.

North Central took advantage of an Elmhurst error to score two unearned runs in the bottom of the second and slice the Bluejays' lead down to one. Errors continued to plague the Bluejays as North Central plated two unearned runs in the third and four unearned runs in the fourth to open up an 8-3 lead.

The Bluejays were unable to score for the remainder of the contest, falling 8-3.
 
Jackie Orel led the Bluejays at the plate, finishing with two of the team's six hits.
 
Jena Hicks made the start from the circle and took the loss. Hicks went the distance, tossing all six innings. She allowed 10 hits but did not allow an earned run. She struck out one while not issuing a walk.
 
ELMHURST 3, NORTH CENTRAL 1 (Game Two) – Briana Pisaura pitched a complete game and Jenna Geraci drove in three runs to lead the Bluejays to a 3-1 victory in game two of the doubleheader.
 
Elmhurst broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth. Elmhurst loaded the bases with one out. After a strikeout, Jenna Geraci delivered two-run single to right field to put Elmhurst up 2-0.
 
North Central cut the lead in half on a Katie Del Re RBI double in the top of the fifth, but the Bluejays tacked on an insurance run in the sixth on a Geraci sacrifice fly.
 
Veronica Zahn and Orel finished with two hits apiece while Geraci drove in all three runs for the Bluejays.
 
 
Elmhurst hosts Wheaton College on Tuesday, April 30, at 3:00 p.m.
