Bluejays Soar Past DePauw to Remain Unbeaten

ELMHURST, ILL. – The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team improved to 4-0 on the season by defeating DePauw University 18-8.

The Tigers got off to an early start, scoring just 18 seconds into the game. Elmhurst quickly responded and built a four-goal lead at the end of the first quarter (6-2). After two Elmhurst goals by Sante Dybowski and Ben Luke the Tigers answered with two goals of their own. At the end of the first half, the Bluejays led 9-4.

After a back-and-forth third quarter, each team posted three goals and Elmhurst held a five-goal lead (12-7) entering the fourth. The Bluejays put the game away in the fourth quarter, scoring six goals compared to DePauw's one, recording the 18-8 victory.

Elmhurst had four players with four goals each. Marcus Yandall recorded four goals and two assists for six points. Luke, Dybowski, and Andrew Frerich had four goals apiece and one assist each on the day. Trent Nyberg and Ryan Camarata led the Bluejay's defense with each played recording four caused turnovers on the day. Jake Delgado recorded 11 saves while allowing eight goals on the day.

DePauw was led by Will Robert's two goals and two assists. Chris Schaefer added two goals of his own. The Tiger's had four players post one goal each. Patrick Lawton recorded 19 saves while allowing 18 goals on the day.

  • The Bluejays won the ground, edging DePauw 32 to 21 in ground ball pickups.
  • Elmhurst won 15 of 28 faceoffs while DePauw recorded 13 faceoff wins.

The Bluejays return to action on Wednesday March 17 when the team travels to take on Benedictine University at 7:00 P.M.
