KENOSHA, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped in an 81-70 loss at Carthage College.

The Bluejays fell to 6-2 overall while Carthage improved to 5-6 overall.

Elmhurst fell behind by as many as nine points in the opening half, trailing 26-17 with eight minutes remaining. The Bluejays responded with a 20-7 run over the next seven minutes, opening up a four-point cushion following a
Bryce Drews' three-pointer. The Bluejays led 37-35 at the half.

The two squads traded buckets and leads to start the second half. Carthage led by only a point (58-57) with seven minutes remaining, but the Firebirds used a 12-4 run over the next 2:30 to open up a 70-61 cushion. Carthage opened up a 14-point lead with less than a minute to play to come away with the 11-point victory.

Elmhurst shot 42.6 percent (26-of-61) from the floor, but only 30.4 percent (7-of-23) from downtown.
Jay Militello led the Bluejays with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Lavon Thomas added 13 points and five rebounds while
Wesley Hooker scored 10 points.

Dominic Genco and Drews totaled eight points apiece in the loss.

Carthage shot 44.6 percent (29-of-65) from the floor, including 29.2 percent (7-of-24) from downtown. Joshua Washburn led the way for Carthage with 29 points, shooting 9-of-18 from the floor, including 5-of-12 from downtown. Sean Johnson added 24 points and nine rebounds while Fillip Bulatovic totaled a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
