ELMHURST, ILL.- The Elmhurst women's basketball squad evened its season series with Carroll University by hammering the Pioneers 78-51 at R.A. Faganel Hall.
The Bluejays (2-5) came out hot, shooting 60 percent (9-of-15) in the first quarter to lead the Pioneers (4-2) 22-11. The Pioneers cut the Bluejays' lead down to seven midway through the second quarter, but Elmhurst quickly responded with an 8-0 run in the remaining two minutes of the half to lead 41-26 at the break.
Elmhurst continued to build on its existing lead and ripped off an 11-0 run late in the third to hold a 21-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Bluejays continued to pull away, leading by as many as 33 points before closing out the 78-51 win. The Bluejays' bench outscored Carroll's reserves 27-15 on the day.
The Bluejays were led by
Taylor Harazin's career high 20 points and nine rebounds. Marrissa Urso added 19 points and six rebounds while connecting on five three-pointers.
Kelly Weyhrich flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds and eight assists on the day. Weyhrich also connected on five three-pointers on the day. Elmhurst shot an impressive 44 percent (32-of-73) from the field and 38 percent (11-of-29) from beyond the arc.
The Pioneers were led by Kayla Stefkas' 11 points and four rebounds. She was assisted by Marissa Murray's 10 points and four rebounds of her own. Katie Evans added seven points and seven rebounds on the day. Carroll shot 38 percent (17-of-52) from the field and 16 percent (3-of-18) from beyond the arc.

th as they host North Park University at 7:00 P.M.
