ELMHURST, ILL.- The Elmhurst women's basketball squad dropped to 1-2 on the season after falling to Augustana 66-56 at R.A. Faganel Hall.

After a back-and-forth first quarter the Bluejays led the Vikings (3-1) 14-13. Midway through the second quarter Elmhurst built a six-point lead, draining five of their six free throws. Augustana responded and tied the game at halftime 30-30.

Augustana came out hot in the third quarter and used an 8-0 run to build a quick nine-point lead. Elmhurst was unable to respond in the third quarter while the Vikings pushed their lead up 14-points headed into the fourth quarter 51-37. Augustana was leading the game by 15 points with 3:45 left to play, but the Bluejays refused to quit, cutting the Viking's lead to just six points with 1:20 left to play. The late game rally was not enough however, as the Vikings hit a later three-pointer before pulling away for the 66-56 victory.

Elmhurst was led by Courtney O'Donnell's 17 points and seven rebounds. Kelly Weyhrich recorded 13 points and seven rebounds. Elana Cabrera and Marissa Urso each added seven points on the night. The Bluejays shot 33 percent (20-of-60) from the field and 67 percent (12-of-18) from the foul line.

Augustana was led by Macy Beinborn's 19 points and two rebounds. She was assisted by Gabriela Loiz's ten points and two rebounds. Lauren Hall added eight points and 12 rebounds. The Vikings shot 38 percent (23-of-60) from the field and 28 percent (8-of-29) from beyond the arc.

Elmhurst returns to action Thursday, February 4, by hosting Wheaton College at 7:00 p.m.
