ELMHURST, Ill. – Goals from
Noah Backhaus and
Justin Cabrera propelled the Elmhurst University men's soccer team to a 2-0 shutout victory over Carroll University at Langhorst Field.

With the victory, Elmhurst upped its record to 6-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the CCIW. Carroll slipped to 7-3-1, 0-1-1 in league play.

Backhaus put the Bluejays on the scoreboard just 2:16 into the contest.
James Serrano's centering pass deflected right to Backhaus in front of the net and he headed the ball into the back of the net to stake Elmhurst to an early lead.

The Bluejays led 1-0 at the break and quickly made it 2-0 in the second half.
Justin Cabrera headed home a cross from
Raffa Consalvo in front of the left post in the 55th minute of action to double the Bluejays' lead.

Carroll finished with 14 shots to Elmhurst's 10. The Bluejays held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
Noah Reed recorded five saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Bluejays. Tyler Hanson allowed two goals and recorded three saves for the Pioneers.
Elmhurst hosts Augustana College on Wednesday, October 13.
