KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback on the road at Carthage College.
Carthage swept all three double matches and the six singles contests on its way to the shutout.
In double play, Elmhurst's
Julia Kostadinova and
Isabella Rahman fell 8-1 to Giana Apostoli and Sam Ramsey 8-1 at No. 1. The Bluejays' No. 2 team of
Silvia Barak and
Megan Engstrom fell 8-3 to Luana Da Silva and Sasha Majojilovic. Elmhurst's No. 3 duo of
Bailey Ekstrand and
Brynn Rubacky fell 8-3 to Rachel Anderson and Giovanna Mendes.
In singles play, Kostadinova fell 6-0, 6-0 to Apostoli at No. 1 while Barak fell 6-3, 6-4 to Da Silva at No. 2. Rahman fell 6-0, 6-3 to Anderson at No. 3 while Ekstrand suffered a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Sierra Sonnemaker at No. 4. Engstrom fell 6-2, 6-0 to Mendes at No. 5 while Rubacky fell 6-2, 6-0 at Maddie Kearney at No. 6.
