ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University women's soccer team topped Benedictine University 1-0 in overtime for a senior day victory.
After many crosses, shots and saves, both teams could not find the back of the net by the end of regulation so the game headed to overtime.
Eight minutes into overtime, Elmhurst's
Hannah Bacon placed a beautiful ball across the box where fellow Bluejay
Gabby Ketola was able to put it past the Benedictine goalkeeper for her fifth goal of the season and the win.
The Bluejays improved to 4-6-1 while the Eagles fell to 5-12.
Benedictine goalkeeper, Katherine Prochnow, collected 11 saves, while Elmhurst goalkeeper,
MaKenzee Velchek earned the shutout and win with eight saves.
The Bluejays return to CCIW play on Wednesday, October 20 when they host the Augustana Vikings at Langhorst Field.
