ELMHURST, ILL. – The Elmhurst women's basketball squad dropped their second CCIW matchup against Augustana College 75-56.
 
In the first quarter both teams battled back and forth to a 18-18 tie headed into the second quarter. With about five minutes left in the second quarter Augustana (10-9/5-5 CCIW) went on a 10-0 run to take a 13-point lead over the Bluejays (7-12/2-8 CCIW) at the end of the first half.

Elmhurst could not match the Vikings' offense in the second half, as Augustana extended its lead to 18-points at the end of the third quarter (58-40). In the fourth quarter the Bluejays struggled to rally back before falling to the Vikings 75-56.

The Bluejays were led by Becca Gerke's 15 points and five rebounds on the night. Courtney O'Donnell helped her squad by recording 11 points and five rebounds. Jocelyn Jacob came in off the bench to add six points and two rebounds. Elmhurst shot 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the field, 20 percent (5-of-25) from the three-point line, and 91.7 percent (11-of-12) from the free throw line. 

The Vikings were led by Alexis Jones' double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Hall finished with 18 points and three rebounds. Mia Lambert totaled 13 points, shooting 75 percent (3-of-4) from beyond the arc. The Vikings shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field, 48.1 percent(13-of-27) from the three-point line, and 80 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line.

The Bluejays return to action on Saturday (February 1, 2020) when they host Wheaton College at 2:00 P.M.
