HANOVER PARK, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team slipped to 0-2 in the CCIW following a 9-0 loss to Wheaton College at Centre Court Athletic Club.
Wheaton (7-0/4-0 CCIW) swept the three doubles matches and all six singles contests in the victory.
In doubles play, Claire Browning and Abygale Ahn defeated Elmhurst's
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Dacey Maglaque 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Claire Dibble and Nicole Freeman toppled the Bluejays' duo of
Kristina Radakovic and
Nina Pasquini 8-3 at No. 2. Bethany Hoogerheide and Emme Lindquist defeated Elmhurst's
June Bering and
Bailey Ekstrand 8-0 at No. 3.
In singles play, Browning downed Gonzaga 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 while Lindquist topped Pasquini 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. Dibble blanked Ekstrand 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 while Freeman defeated Maglaque 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Ahn stopped
Silvia Barak 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and Hoogerheide toppled
Lindsey McAuliffe 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College on Tuesday, October 1.
