ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Elmhurst football team dropped its CCIW opener, falling 55-13 at Augustana College.

Augustana (2-0, 1-0 CCIW) scored jumped out to a 15-0 lead late in the first quarter after a three-yard touchdown run from Bobby Jarosz and an eight-yard touchdown pass from Zachary Fuller to Tom Dollis.

The Bluejays strung together a six-play, 77-yard scoring drive, capped off by a four-yard touchdown run from
Jake Tahaney. The Bluejays' extra-point attempt was blocked and returned for two points by Augustana's David Lane, giving the Vikings a 17-6. Â

Augustana blew the game open in the second quarter, scoring four straight touchdowns to extend its lead to 45-6 at halftime.

The Vikings tacked on a one-yard touchdown run from Zachary Fuller and a 33-yard field goal from Owen Ennis to make the score 55-6.
Elmhurst put together its most impressive drive of the season on its final possession. The Bluejays drove 92 yards in seven plays capped by a 19-yard touchdown pass from
Noah Henkel to
Dimitri Valcourt.

Augustana scored on its first six possessions of the contest and totaled 448 yards of offense. The Vikings rushed for 221 yards and passed for 227.

Elmhurst finished with 281 yards of total offense in the contest, rushing for 96 yards while passing for 185 yards. The Bluejays turned the ball over three times while forcing one turnover on defense.

Tahaney threw for 115 yards while rushing five times for 36 yards.
Treston Womack added 30 rushing yards for the Bluejays. Henkel completed 3-of-6 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Casey Dobczyk caught three passed for 32 yards while Valcourt hauled in two passes for 60.

Jarosz led Augustan on the ground, carrying 14 times for 112 yards and four touchdowns. Fuller completed 17-of-20 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns. Max Uranich was the Vikings' top receiver, catching five passes for 61 yards.

Gabe Boyd led the Bluejays' defense, finishing with eight tackles apiece.
Tavey Durns added seven stops for the Bluejays.
Lavor Little added six tackles and recorded a fumble recovery.

Elmhurst (0-2, 0-1 CCIW) will look to snap it's two-game skid next Saturday (September 28) when the team travels to Carroll University.
