The Elmhurst men's soccer squad picked up its first win on the season, defeating Wittenberg 1-0 at the Bob Baptista Invitational.

The Details:

• In the 21st minute of the match Noah Backhaus headed in his first goal of the season on a pass inside the box from Oliver Saile to give the Bluejays the lead.
• At the end of the first half, the Bluejays were leading the Tigers 1-0.
• Backhaus' first goal of the season held for the remainder of the match to give the Bluejays the win.
• Wittenberg held a slight shot advantage with 11 shots total to the Bluejays 10, but the Tigers were unable to find the back of the net.
• The Tigers held a 7-4 edge on corner kicks
• Donnie Kvien totaled six saves for the Bluejays to earn the shutout in goal, while Jason Bowen had four saves on the day for the Tigers.
