ELMHURST, Ill. –
Alex Kielion tossed 7.1 strong innings to lead the Elmhurst baseball team to a 5-1 victory over North Park University in the Bluejays' final home game of the 2019 season.

Elmhurst (11-25, 5-17 CCIW) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after two innings. The Bluejays opened the first inning with a single from
Trey Compton and a walk to
Lorenzo Farino. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and then scored on
Jacob McMillan's single to center. The Bluejays cashed in on a North Park (19-16, 11-11 CCIW) error in the second, loading the bases before scoring a run on a
Kevin Johlie sacrifice fly.

North Park scored a run in the sixth on a Jake Reinhardt RBI single, but a groundout and a strikeout stranded two Viking runners on base.

Elmhurst tacked on two insurance runs in the ninth on a two-out, two-run double from
Jordan Scrimpsher.

Compton totaled two of Elmhurst's six hits in the victory.

Kielion earned his second win of the season from the mound, working 7.1 innings and allowing just five hits and one unearned run. He walked two and fanned two.
Alec Berry notched his fifth save of the season, recording the final five outs of the contest. Berry allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two.Â

Ethan Sund took the loss for North Park despite pitching a complete game, working eight innings and allowing six hits and three earned runs. Sund walked one and stuck out five.
Elmhurst wraps up the 2019 season by playing a doubleheader at North Park on Saturday, May 4.
