WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team closed out the the regular season with a 6-3 road victory over Carroll University.
Elmhurst improved to 6-11 overall and 2-5 in the CCIW while Carroll slipped to 2-16 oerall and 0-7 in league play.
Elmhurst scored four victories in singles play and two wins in doubles matches.
In doubles play, the Bluejays scored wins at No. 2 and No.3.
Grant O'Connell and
Lance Maharry scored an 8-6 win over Ian Foster and Mitchel Gjerseth at No. 2. Elmhurst's duo of
Chris Wallace and
Tavious Imperial defeated Nick Bissegger and Jordan Nowell 8-2.
In singles play,
Shawn Sabaricos upended Joseph Harrison 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 while O'Connell defeated Foster 6-2, 6-2 at No.3. Wallace blanked Ryan Strupp 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles while Imperial defeated Bissegger 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.
Elmhurst secured the No. 6 seed in next week's CCIW Tournament and will face third-seeded North Central College on Thursday, May 2.
