ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Augustana College. The Bluejays fell 11-3 in game one and rallied but came up one run short in an 11-10 loss in game two.

Elmhurst fell to 7-18 overall and 1-8 in the CCIW while Augustana improved to 15-17 overall and 4-6 in the CCIW.

AUGUSTANA 11, ELMHURST 3 (Game One) – Elmhurst grabbed an early lead at 1-0, but Augustana scored in each of the next four innings to take game one 11-3 in five innings.

The Bluejays grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Rebekah Ondracek drew a two-out walk and came around to score on
Alyssa Ressinger's RBI double.

Elmhurst's lead was short lived as Augustana as Clare Kramer smashed a pinch-hit, two-run home run off the scoreboard to put the Vikings up 2-1 in the second. The Vikings scored three runs in the third and another run in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-1.

The Bluejays cut the deficit down to three in the bottom of the fourth. Elmhurst scored a run on a
Mia Riese RBI double and added a run on a single from
Jenna Geraci.

Augustana took advantage of four Elmhurst errors in the fifth inning to score five unearned runs and pull away for the 11-3 win.

Alexis Ramos collected two of Elmhurst's five hits in the loss to lead the Bluejays at the plate.

Bailee Krantz made the start and took the loss for Elmhurst, working four innings and allowing six hits and five earned runs. Kelcie Fredrickson earned the win for the Vikings.

AUGUSTANA 11, ELMHURST 10 (Game Two) – The second game was a slugfest as Augustana emerged with an 11-10 win as the two squads combined for 24 hits.

The Vikings jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after scoring two runs in the second and two more in the third. Elmhurst surged in front with a five-run fourth inning. Ressinger drove in a run on a fielders choice and
Mia Riese followed with a sacrifice fly. A walk and a hit batter loaded the bases and Ellie Bruan followed with a two-run single to knot the score at 4-4.
Riley Schweig followed with a single to drive in a run and put Elmhurst in front 5-4.

The Vikings answered back with three runs in the bottom of the inning to move back in front at 7-5. Elmhurst responded with another five-run inning, scoring five times in the top of the fifth. The Bluejays scored all five runs with two outs and the bases empty. Three straight singles made the score 7-6 as Ondracek knocked in a run on a hit. A hit batter loaded the bases and Braun delivered again, smacking a two-run single to give Elmhurst an 8-6 lead. Schweig followed with a two-run single to move Elmhurst in front 10-7.

The Vikings uses two runs on a Molly Wrenn single in the bottom of the fifth to pull to within a run. The Vikings retook the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth on Erin Smith's two-run double.

Braun finished 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs driven in. Schweig added two hits and knocked in three for Elmhurst.
