DECATUR, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team evened its CCIW record at 1-1 on the season after suffering a 9-0 road loss at Millikin University.
Milllikin (12-3, 4-0 CCIW) swept the three doubles matches and all six singles contests en route to the win. Elmhurst slipped to 4-6 overall with the loss.
In doubles play, Jacob Palley and Colin Sandgren downed Elmhurst's duo of
Shawn Sabaricos and
Chris Wallace 8-2 at No. 1. The Bluejays' pair of
Grant O'Connell and
Lance Maharry fell 8-3 to Greg Schwoeppe and Logan Bennett 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, Palley topped Sabaricos 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 while O'Connell put up a strong fight at No. 2, falling in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 5-10 to Schwoeppe at No. 2. Bennet downed Maharry 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 while Holden Owens defeated Wallace 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. Nick Laramee stopped
Tavious Imperial 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5.
Elmhurst plays at Simpson College on Saturday, April 13.
