Bluejays Role Past Dubuque For Fifth Straight Win

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team cruised to its fifth consecutive victory by hammering the University of Dubuque 22-1.
 
Elmhurst battled cold temperatures and rain to improve to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW with the victory. Dubuque fell to 4-8 overall with the loss.
 
Elmhurst dominated from the start, outscoring Dubuque 7-0 in the first quarter. After a scoreless first nine minutes, the Bluejays exploded for seven goals in the final six minutes. Marcus Yandall scored three goals in the opening quarter while Mac Harden added two more.
 
Dubuque scored its only goal of the contest at the start of the second quarter before Elmhurst scored four times to close the half. Yandall and Harden scored two goals apiece in the run to put the Bluejays up 11-1 at the half.
 
The Bluejays pulled away in the second half, scoring seven goals in the third quarter and four goals in the fourth to cruise to the 22-1 victory.
 
Elmhurst outshot Dubuque 62-21 while also winning 20-of-27 faceoffs. The Bluejays were successful on 27-of-29 clear attempts.
 
Yandall and Harden powered the Bluejays' offense, combining for nine goals. Yandall led the team with five while Harden added four. Ryan Moran added three goals while Nate Yuhas, Sante Dybowski and Andrew Frerich scored two goals apiece. Nick McLary, Cullen Nordeman and Blake Dickson also scored for the Bluejays. Carter Meyer won 16 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls. Quinn Stokes totaled four ground balls and caused four turnovers.
 
Jake Delgado allowed just one goal while recording six saves in the cage for the Bluejays. Delgado played the first 55 minutes while Noah Bacofen finished up, recording two saves in five minutes.
 
Elmhurst travels to Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, April 13.
