ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's tennis team moved to 2-3 on the season after splitting a pair of matches. The Bluejays suffered a 9-0 loss to Wabash College before bouncing back to defeat Monmouth College.
WABASH 9, ELMHURST 0 - Wabash handed Elmhurst its third loss of the season as the Little Giants scored a 9-0 shutout win. Wabash swept all three doubles matches and the six singles contests en route to the win.
ELMHURST 9, MONMOUTH 0 - Elmhurst did the sweeping in the night cap as the Bluejays rolled over Monmouth 9-0.
Elmhurst won all three doubles matches by 8-0 scores.
David Demoll and
Shawn Sabaricos upended Joseph Shie and Zach Harris at No. 1 doubles while
Grant O'Connell and
Lance Maharry followed with an 8-0 win over Alex Martin and Brandon Guenther at No. 2 doubles.
Chris Wallace and
Tavious Imperial blanked Nicholas Robertson and Jory Masterman at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Demoll outloasted Shie 7-6, 1-6, 10-4 at No. 1 doubles. Sabaricos dispatched Harris 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 while O'Connell defeated Martin 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Maharry defeated Guenther 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Wallace shutout Robertson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Imperial blanked Masterman 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Elmhurst hosts Cornell College on Sunday, February 24.
