CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's basketball team dropped to 3-5 on the season after falling to 24th-ranked University of Chicago.
Chicago (7-2) scored the game's first six points and never looked back, leading from wire-to-wire in the contest. The Maroons led 22-13 after one quarter and upped their lead to 42-23 at halftime.Â
Elmhurst finished the contest shooting 22-of-57 (38.6 percent) from the floor, but only 14.3 percent (2-of-14) from three-point distance. The Maroons hit 39.4 percent (28-of-71) of their shots, including 35.3 percent (12-of-34) from downtown. Elmhurst struggled to protect the ball, committing 22 turnovers leading to 21 points for the Maroons.
Kween Jean led the Bluejays in the loss, finishing with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Lauren Goff added 10 points while
Lily Greifenstein and
Mia Riese finished with seven points apiece.Â
Chicago was led by Taylor Lake's 17 points on a 6-of-11 shooting performance. Alina Brennan added 10 ppints while Mia Farrell, Miranda Burt and Peyton Van Soest totaled nine points apiece for the Maroons.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College next Saturday, December 14.Â
