ELMHURST, ILL.- The Elmhurst women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup to North Central 70-46 at R.A. Faganel Hall.
North Central (4-5) started things off by going on a 9-0 run in the first five minutes of the opening quarter. Elmhurst's (3-6) offense was off to a slow start and found themselves down 16-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals expanded their lead throughout the second quarter and led by 17 (38-21) heading into the locker room.
Elmhurst struggled to contain the Cardinals offense in the third quarter. North Central shot 53.8 percent from the field and gave themselves a comfortable 30-point lead headed into the fourth quarter (57-27). The Bluejays were able to win the fourth quarter but unfortunately North Central hit 3-of-4 from behind the ark to capture the conference win 70-46.
The Bluejays were led by
Kween Jean's double-double on the day. Jean finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Becca Gerke helped lead her squad with eight points and four rebounds. Elmhurst finished shooting 55.9 percent from the foul line and 25 percent from the field.
The Cardinals were led by Natali Dimitrova's 12 points and seven rebounds. Haydn Braun made five of her eight three-point attempts, to finish with 16 points and six rebounds. Rebekah Foley helped lead the Cardinals shooting 50 percent from the field, recording 15 points and three rebounds. North Central ended the game shooting 80 percent from the free throw line, 51 percent from the field, and 50 percent from beyond the ark.
The Bluejays return to action Tuesday (December 17, 2019) when they host Coe College in a non-conference matchup at 4:00 P.M.
